South Sudanese social media commentator Akuach Wol was shot and wounded on Monday when unidentified gunmen opened fire on her vehicle in Juba, her family said.
The shooting occurred at about 1 p.m. as Wol drove from Hai Tijariya toward her office near the presidential complex, J1. Multiple bullets struck her vehicle at close range, and she sustained a gunshot wound to the thigh, her sister, Adut Wol, told us.
“She was shot in the thigh. When I regained consciousness after the shooting, I was told she had already been taken to the hospital by the Office of the President,” Adut said.
