Sudan Conflict: Army Airstrikes Hit RSF Supply Lines Near Wad Madani
Fierce battles continue in Al Jazirah state, where the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) are intensifying operations to dislodge the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) from Al-Haj Abdallah and move closer to retaking Wad Madani, military insiders reported on Wednesday.
In a strategic move, the army’s air force bombed the western canal bridge of the Al Jazirah agricultural project, disrupting RSF supply chains. The destruction of the bridge, alongside army control of Bridge 57, Bridge 39, and Bridge 77, has severely restricted RSF movements between the Blue Nile and surrounding villages.
Ground forces are consolidating positions south of Al-Haj Abdallah in Maziqila, Al-Daniqila, and Dafa Allah, while RSF fighters are entrenched in Saqra to the east and Al-Shakaba Al-Noor to the north. Military analysts say capturing these towns would bring the army within striking distance of Wad Madani—just 20 km away.
Meanwhile, airstrikes were carried out against RSF bases in Al-Shabarqa and Al-Sharif Yaqoub, targeting fortified positions hidden within mango orchards.
Although military leaders previously hinted at a decisive offensive in Al-Jazirah, the full-scale operation has yet to be launched. Observers suggest logistical and political challenges may be behind the delay.
The RSF takeover of Wad Madani in December marked a major turning point in Sudan’s conflict. Since then, RSF fighters have advanced further south into Sennar state, raising fears of wider destabilization in central and southern Sudan.
