Two local chiefs were killed in separate attacks in Tonj East County as violence escalated in the region.
Commissioner Machuei Bith Bol said a paramount chief and his deputy were murdered by armed youth on Sunday.
The killings occurred as fighting between suspected armed youth from Mayom County and local cattle camp defenders continued in the Luachjang area.
Authorities say security personnel are searching for those responsible for the killings.
